The RPM-Motorsports Stage 1 Tune was designed from Day 1 to eliminate the hesitation and inconsistency of the stock tune. Even before the performance potentials were realized from the tuning, that was Mission #1. The stock LTG motor, for lack of a better description, was just nowhere near as satisfying to drive as we would have expected. One would think that a motor rated at 275hp and 295tq would outperform the expectations of someone who was so used to a 260hp and 260tq motor, but it just didn’t feel quite right.
With the Stage 1 tune, not only have we corrected the hesitation at Full Throttle, but we have improved the turbochargers spool time and response at low RPMs, as well as tuned it to retain much of the improved boost at higher RPMs. If you have driven a 2016 or newer Camaro with the 2.0T you may have grinned at the 7,000 RPM stock redline, and then been let down after the poor engine got past 5,000 RPMs. The stock tune just doesn’t deliver, and leaves you wanting more. It also becomes quite apparent why the 8-Speed automatic is programmed to shift at only 5,600 RPMs unless manually overridden. The Stage 1 tune makes a much longer usable powerband, well past the 6,000 RPM mark, and with some aftermarket parts like a cold air intake, charge pipes, and more you can bet that there will be a lot more fun on excursions up to the 7,000 RPM redline.
