The Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn SKY Redline marked a milestone for General Motors — they were the first production vehicles to feature GM’s new Direct Injection turbocharged engine platform.
However, due to strict production deadlines, the ECM calibration released in 2007 was conservative. During final development, engineers encountered detonation (spark knock) under load. To ensure reliability and protect the engine, several critical tables within the ECM were reduced. As a result, the 2007 models did not consistently achieve their advertised 260 HP / 260 lb-ft torque output.
Additionally, 2007 vehicles were equipped with an incorrect heat-range spark plug, further impacting performance.
2007 models typically produce 195–200 wheel horsepower
2008–2009 models produce 220–225 wheel horsepower
At RPM, we correct the factory calibration limitations by revising 11 key ECM tables responsible for the reduced power output.
Two of these tables are camshaft-related and directly address another common 2007 issue — poor brake assist at startup, which led to the addition of a vacuum pump in those vehicles.
✔ Approximately +30 wheel horsepower
✔ Restored performance comparable to 2008–2009 models
✔ Noticeably improved brake feel and startup vacuum performance
✔ Optimized and corrected factory calibration
Remove your ECM from the vehicle
Mail it to RPM
We reprogram it with our corrected calibration
We ship it back along with the proper heat-range spark plugs
The included spark plugs must be installed along with the updated ECM to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
If your vehicle received the dealer-installed GMPP upgrade through General Motors, the ECM calibration was updated at that time and may not require this service.
If you purchase any tuning from RPM this process is done in addition to the tuning, if you want to pick up 80 WHP look at our Stage 1 tuning option or go big with a Stage kit!
